Aromaleigh

Who doesn't love finding something in their closet that has been long forgotten? Well, while rummaging around trying to unpack, I found a box that had 9 jars of unopened Aromaleigh mineral eyeshadow! I believe these are back from when the founder of Aromaleigh, Kristen Leigh Bell closed shop back in Fall of 2010.

Aromaleigh is a cutting-edge cosmetics company at the forefront of the independent mineral makeup revolution. Their micro-formulated products are formulated with pure ingredients, innovation, over a decade of industry experience and creativity to bring you unique, quality makeup.

They are never tested on animals and are proprietary formulations, never repackaged. Aromaleigh has been in business online since 1998.

Jolie is a medium wine colored shadow with pink glitter. Goes on much lighter than the color in the pot.

Copper is a very rich hot chocolate color with lots of gold and copper glitter. My pictures don't do it justice.

Hot Stuff, a brighter coral pink. It reminds me of salmon when in the pot. Goes on very light and has a faint sparkle. Very cute and playful!

Burnt Roses, love the name! Is a medium brown with a lighter brown glitter. Goes on looking more like a foil. It really made my eyes POP!

Velvet Dream, I loved the name and the color in the pot, a very rich wine color with red/pink sparkle. Goes on easily and wears off within moments. Too bad!

Strawberry Despair is a lighter brownish red with light pink glitter. it goes on more pink with a nice bit of shimmer.

Coney Island is a lighter metallic green. It looks better when applied wet. This color reminds me a lot of something Tinkerbell would wear. Has a nice shimmer.

Torment - My favorite one! So rich, so dark, perfect for a stroll in the cemetary. Looks gorgeous when applied wet. You can't go wrong with this color.

Sabine - This shadow is packed with glitter! It is a very dark brown in the pot, but goes on in a very lovely gold. Reminds me of the gold edged paper in Bibles.

Thanks for looking! I think I was in a very red and brown phase at the time of purchase. I think it had something to do with what colors were approved for wear with my job's uniform or something. What was your favorite?

These products were purchased by me and I have in no way been sponsored by or affiliated by Aromaleigh.
I love to collect and share pretty things.

Sweet Boots

I love boots and shoes!

If I had a better income I would probably become an addict. My current boot obsession are these lovelies...

Purple Combat Boots by New Rock. They are a jaw dropping $239.99! I found them at Sweet Boots. They have a an amazing collection of unique boots and shoes. They carry a wide range of styles, too! Combat boots, heels, buckle boots, shoes, almost anything you can imagine.

If you couldn't already guess, I'm saving up for a pair of these. If you do decide to take a look around Sweet Boots, use the coupon CATSNTATS for a discount! Unfortunately, I don't know what the discount will be because it varies from order to order.

Don't forget to check out the Spring Sale going on right now!

Friday, April 6

It still may only be Spring, but the weather is heating up and I don't like it. Not one bit.

What happens when things start to warm up? Stores start putting out racks, and racks of brightly colored, loud patterned, itty-bitty swimsuits and tacky bejeweled flip-flops. I take this as my cue to start stocking up on sunscreen with the highest SPF available and smudge proof-water proof eyeliner. I just hate it when you start sweating and your make up runs. It looks like you're melting!

Melting... that is not a pleasant thought.

Anyhow, back on topic. What do you look forward to when Summer hits? The pool. And what do you need to get in said pool? A swim suit. Maybe you're like me and have an annoyingly hard time finding a swim suit that not only suits your tastes but suits your body. I'm one of those girls that don't like to show off a lot of skin. Does anybody else have this problem?

I've been looking around various Gothic clothing stores on the Internet and found a very nice selection of swim wear! Surprise, surprise! Almost all of them are bikinis. I'm thinking about modifying a plain black suit once I find one that flatters my body type. Retro inspired swim suits and/or runching can be very flattering for every body.

How do you find one that looks good? You could go with trying them all on until you find one that looks good or you could go with working with your body type. Maybe you're the model type that wants to flaunt their tats and looks great in anything. Maybe you're the curvy hourglass shape? Maybe you just want to enhance your bust or cover your middle. The tags on swimsuits these days can be extremely helpful! When in doubt, bring a friend that won't sugar coat things and ask for her/his advice.

Heavy Red has a beautiful selection of Gothic Bathing Suits and cover ups available.

Torrid carries several retro inspired suits for those of us size 12 and up.

Hot Topic sports a collection that is aimed towards Junior sizes. I love the Too Fast swim wear, though!

Spanx also has a cute swim wear line for those of us that need a little help. The black halter swim dress is my favorite.

And last but not least... Victorian bathing suits! For those of us that would feel more at home in turn of the century swim wear (or are just big Sweeney Todd fans).

Whatever your style, don't forget to apply sunscreen and use your waterproof make up! Parasols, wide brimmed hats, dark sunglasses, and a towel are must haves. You wouldn't want to burn that beautiful pale skin, would you? Or... end up looking like this?

Blegh!!

What is in a Goth girl's bag?

I've surprisingly been asked this question a lot.

Do you have stuff for witch craft in there?

What do you have in there?

Why do you need such a big bag?

Why do people ask a girl why she needs a big purse, really?

We have big purses because we need different things for different situations and I'm constantly on the go. Plus, I don't exactly have a car to leave all my extra stuff in. Backpacks send off all sorts of security warning signals if you enter a store wearing one. Good luck trying to explain, "It's just my purse!" Security people never listen to darkly inclined folks for some reason.

I carry my things around in... a Jellyfish purse! Isn't it cute? Let's just dump it out and see what exactly is making it so heavy today? I have my Juicy Couture wallet and an extra pair of glasses. I have the tendency to walk out and leave my glasses at home and I need them to see. Good job, me!

I love my wallet, it's so soft! I wanted to get one on my last day in San Francisco, but ended up not getting it. I found it on Ebay for half price! Um... There is also my Sony Walkman MP3 player, a snack bar, keys, a reusable lint roller, energy drink packets, pens, a Tamogachi, hair clips/brush/de-frizzing creme, and five  different kinds of lip balm.

I also carry along a mini umbrella, my make up case, a reusable water bottle, and my Kindle (also in a jellyfish case). But they weren't in my bag at this exact moment for some reason or another. See? Nothing too exciting or shocking. All the shocking things are at home in their own special bag away from prying eyes.

What's in your bag?

There seems to be a lack of Gothic Fashion and Lifestyle blogs that update regularly. I hope to fix that. I welcome any advice, comments and post ideas! Don't be afraid to share.

I have been "Goth" for over ten years now. As a small child I was in love with the dark beauty of Mortica Addams and Lily Munster. I wanted to be just like them. I love dark fashion, art, music, poetry, literature, photography, and the people! Goths are a very unique group of individuals and we take pride in it! I love not being "normal". There are as many ups and downs to being who you are. There will always be those closed-minded people that will give you a hard time. But, this isn't about them, right?

Gothic Beauty Magazine is a great fashion and music rag. They have great ideas and pictures. I love their music section. Lately... I have come to think they have sold out. They are mostly ads now. Too bad. Let's hope they continue to bring us more pretty clothes, DIY, and new bands to listen to.

I hope I can come up with some nice ideas for everyone.

Please visit Goth.net, i'm active on their forums. If you want my screen name, please e-mail me.
